President & Owner |
A Little Bit About Me...
Currently, I am the President & Owner of Catering
Con
Sazon, Inc. as well as the Executive Director &
Founder of Dancers Con Sazon Latin Dance Company.
(That's the big fancy
title...all it means is that I founded the dance company
then bought a catering hall.)
The journey that has
brought me to where I am now is as interesting and varied as
the dancers in the company I founded. Here's a breakdown... |
|

Dance Experience
I first appeared on the NY
mambo scene when I joined The Mambo Mamas in August 1998
after training with Jimmy Anton and Carlos Konig for a year
and a half. My prior dance training includes ballet,
flamenco and belly dancing. I made my debut at Mad About
Mambo in February 1999. I had my final performance with The
Mambo Mamas at Tavern on the Green in September 2000. Then,
I developed Con Sazon Dance Company in November 2000. Con
Sazon debuted on March 24, 2001. In November
2002, I made my final performance with Con Sazon. I
then dedicated my time to directing and coaching as well as
producing choreographies for the company. In June
2003, I wrote, directed and produced a "dance-ical" based on
the history of The Con Sazon Dance Company. In
September 2006, after the birth of my second child, I
retired from dancing and dissolved the dance company.
In 2008, I decided to return to dancing by resuming my own
dance training and offering dance lessons. I have
begun the process of developing a new dance team, I hope to
introduce the new Dancers Con Sazon in 2009.

A Funny Thing
Happened On The Way ....
|
|
In June 2000, I was a founding
member of Dancers United, a union of NY/NJ teams protesting
the policies of the promoters of a major international event.
In July 2000, I was appointed to the Coordinating Committee
and set about the task of incorporating this union. In
November 2000, along with Thomas Guerrero, Addie Diaz and Laura Lorenzo,
I left Dancers United to develop Latin
American Dance Organization (LADO), a non-profit organization
created exclusively to supporting and promoting dancers. |

Some Work
History...
|
|
An experienced computer programmer,
I have worked in finance, advertising and sports radio.
As a programmer, I worked with Vitt Media
International on one of the earliest applications of the
internet for commerce. I developed the databases and
protocol for Vitt Online, a transaction service dedicated to
buying media time. After Vitt Online launched, I moved
to The Redtop Company where I focused on the financial and
managerial side of internet start-ups.
During my term with Redtop, I
successfully moved a small team of 3 to stately offices in the
Empire State Building and I developed managerial, accounting
and HR systems to fully service a staff of 15. Once
Redtop was fully operational, I moved to QED Consulting, a
leading HR Consulting firm.
At QED, I streamlined a "virtual" office
with all personnel working from home by integrating emerging
cellular and mobile technologies. QED's personnel
included partners in Virginia, NY, NJ and South Africa.
Once QED's systems were fully streamlined, I accepted a
position at Palm Ventures, LLC., an venture fund dedicated to
"bricks-to-clicks" financing.
At Palm Ventures, LLC., I worked on a
wide variety of acquisitions including a day spa, an audio
books franchise, a payroll service provider and much more.
The final acquisition I worked on was my own - I purchased
Starlite Caterers from David Melendez on March 1, 2001. |

Consulting Work...
|
|
You can take the girl out of
finance but.... While I was with
The Mambo Mamas, I put some of my work experience to good use.
I created the first version of
www.mambomamas.com,
I developed the marketing concepts "Mad About Mambo" and
"Mama-fied" and I helped organize the accounting for the
group. Once the word got out, I was approached by
other mambo teams and local businesses for organizational help and website
development. |
